It is dark outside by five, and there is still a session waiting. That is exactly what the Winter Edition is for: your post-workout shake tastes like advent coffee at grandma's – and still delivers what it is supposed to. The base is ultrafiltrated whey protein concentrate with 20 g protein per 30 g serving and 120 kcal. The typical speculoos taste comes from real cinnamon, cloves, coriander, ginger, cardamom and nutmeg, caramel biscuit pieces bring the crunch, and cream powder makes the shake properly creamy even with water. Added lactase helps digest the milk sugar. New this year: instead of a tub, Speculoos comes in a resealable 420 g bag – and it is the only flavour.

Is Whey Protein sugar-free?

Our formula contains no added sugar at all. What we cannot avoid is the naturally occurring milk sugar (lactose). That is always present, at around 2g per serving.

Why do some people put sugar in their post-workout shake?

Some athletes push their body so hard during intense workouts that their glycogen stores, meaning their sugar reserves, are almost used up. That is why they reach for fast-available carbohydrates such as dextrose or maltodextrin to refill those reserves.

Can I drink Whey Protein with water?

Most athletes now drink their protein shakes with water only, so we have optimised our Whey Protein for exactly that and created a wonderfully pleasant, creamy mouthfeel in water too.

Does Whey Protein cause bloating?

If you feel strong bloating after having whey proteins, there is a possibility of mild lactose intolerance. In that case you can fall back on lactase tablets or a different protein source.

Does Stracciatella Whey contain real pieces of chocolate?

Yes. Using a dark, defatted chocolate we managed to create a Stracciatella protein that holds plenty of real chocolate pieces for you despite its compelling nutritional values. It makes quark dishes, yoghurts and other desserts incredibly tasty, and you can enjoy them while dieting too.

Does Whey Protein contain soy products?

Many manufacturers use soy lecithin for better solubility, which many athletes see as a drawback because of its presumed hormonal effect. We therefore use a high-quality sunflower lecithin instead, which you can enjoy without concern.

A taste that tastes of December

Speculoos lives from its spice blend - so we did not save on aroma, we saved on compromises. Every shake holds six real spices you taste immediately: cinnamon and cardamom up front, cloves and nutmeg in the finish, plus a light heat from ginger and coriander. Cream powder and sunflower fat powder give the shake a full-bodied mouthfeel that does not turn thin even in cold water. Added to that are crunchy caramel biscuit pieces with cinnamon - the crunch you expect from speculoos. Even so it stays at 2.7 g of sugar per serving. Tastes good shaken on its own, in porridge, in quark or frothed hot as a protein latte on an Advent Sunday.

German Prime Whey - quality with no seasonal discount

The Winter Edition is not a stripped-down seasonal product but our German Prime Whey in a winter coat. The whey protein concentrate is gently ultrafiltered and makes up 86 % of the formula - that is 67.5 g of protein per 100 g and around 20 g per shake. Protein contributes to a growth in and the maintenance of muscle mass. The integrated lactase (1,350 FCC per serving) supports the breakdown of the naturally occurring milk sugar, and instead of soy lecithin we use sunflower lecithin for lump-free solubility. It is made in Germany, to the highest German quality standards. The new bag is lighter than the tub and can be closed cleanly again after every shake.

Ein bisschen mehr Eiweiß könnte der Shake pro 100g noch haben, aber dafür ist der Geschmack mit Wasser wirklich sehr gut. Alles in allem mindestens 4,5/5. Iann ich wirklich Guten gewissen weiter empfehlen, wenn man einen leckeren Shake mit Wasser möchte.
